GPPS Resin

GPPS (general-purpose polystyrene) for clear packaging, disposables, light diffusers and XPS foam board. Send an RFQ.

GPPS grades

GPPS, also called crystal polystyrene, is fully transparent, rigid and easy to process. It is brittle, so it is used where clarity and stiffness matter more than impact strength.

Grades differ mainly in flow and heat resistance.

Choosing a GPPS grade

High flow
Thin-wall injection molding: cups, cutlery and cosmetic cases.
Medium flow
General molding and display items.
Low flow / high heat
Extrusion: XPS foam board, sheet and light diffusers.

Typical applications

  • Disposable cups and cutlery
  • Clear food containers
  • XPS foam board
  • Light diffusers
  • Cosmetic and CD-type cases

Processing notes

Usually no drying needed. Typical melt temperature 180–240 °C. Avoid sharp corners and high ejection force, as GPPS cracks easily.

General guidance only; follow the producer's TDS for each grade.

GPPS Resin: common questions

Can GPPS be blended with HIPS?

Yes. Blends are common in sheet and thermoforming to tune clarity, stiffness and impact strength.
