Application
Plastic resins for Automotive Parts
Resins for interior trim, under-hood components, connectors and exterior parts, where heat, impact and dimensional stability have to hold for the life of the vehicle.
Typical parts
- Bumpers and fascias
- Instrument panels and trim
- Connectors and sensor housings
- Engine covers and radiator end tanks
- Clips, fasteners and gears
- Lamp housings and lenses
What the material has to do
- 01Heat resistance
Under-hood parts see continuous temperatures well above 100 °C; interior parts must not deform in a car parked in the sun.
- 02Impact at low temperature
Bumpers and trim must not crack in winter, which rules out brittle grades.
- 03Dimensional stability
Large parts and snap fits need low, predictable shrinkage and low warpage.
- 04Low emissions and odor
Interior parts are tested for fogging and VOC, so grade and additive choice matter.
Recommended resins
| Resin | Why it is used here | |
|---|---|---|
| PP Impact Copolymer | Bumpers, trim and battery cases; often talc-filled by the compounder. | See grades → |
| ABS Resin | Interior trim and consoles that need gloss, paintability and impact. | See grades → |
| PA66 Resin | Under-hood parts and connectors that need strength at high temperature. | See grades → |
| PBT Resin | Connectors and sensor housings with stable electrical properties. | See grades → |
| POM Resin | Clips, gears and fuel-system parts with low friction. | See grades → |
| PC Resin | Lamp lenses and housings that need clarity and impact. | See grades → |
Grades used for automotive parts
Grades from our catalog that are commonly specified for this application. Open a grade for its data sheet, or send us your part requirements for a recommendation.
Processing notes
Most automotive parts are made from compounds rather than base resin. Fulltrust supplies both producer base resins and PA6 and PA66 compounds from our own plants; send the material specification from the drawing and we will match it.
General guidance only; follow the producer's TDS for each grade.
How we help
- Grade matchSend the grade you use now or your part requirements; we return options with data sheets.
- DocumentsTDS and the COA for the shipped lot; MSDS and compliance declarations where the producer issues them.
- Own compoundsPA6, PA66, PPA and MXD6 compounds from our Jiaxing and Shaoxing plants.
Automotive Parts: common questions
Can you supply grades approved to an OEM specification?
Send the OEM material standard. We check which producer grades are listed against it, or whether one of our compounds can be qualified.
Do you offer glass-filled nylon for automotive parts?
Yes. Our Jiaxing and Shaoxing plants produce glass-fiber reinforced PA6 and PA66, with RoHS and SGS reports.
