PP Impact Copolymer

PP impact copolymer for crates, pails, automotive and thin-wall parts that must stay tough at low temperature. Send an RFQ.

PP impact copolymer grades

Impact copolymer (also called block copolymer or PP-B) contains a dispersed ethylene-propylene rubber phase. It keeps its impact strength down to about -20 °C, at the cost of some stiffness and clarity.

Grades are chosen by the balance of flow, stiffness and impact needed for the part.

Choosing an impact copolymer

Crates, pails and boxes
MFR 10–20 g/10 min with high impact strength.
Thin-wall food packaging
MFR 40 and above for fast filling of thin walls.
Automotive parts
Medium-flow grades, often as the base for talc-filled compounds.
Battery cases and luggage
Low-flow, high-impact grades.

Typical applications

  • Crates, pails and buckets
  • Thin-wall food containers
  • Automotive bumpers and interior trim
  • Battery cases
  • Luggage and garden furniture

Processing notes

No drying needed. Typical melt temperature is 200–250 °C. Shrinkage is slightly lower than homopolymer; parts can stay white at stress points (stress whitening) if bent sharply.

General guidance only; follow the producer's TDS for each grade.

PP Impact Copolymer: common questions

Impact copolymer or homopolymer for a crate?

Impact copolymer. Crates are dropped and stored cold, which is where homopolymer cracks.
