PP grades for film extrusion

Film grades are listed here when the producer gives film extrusion as the intended process. Most are homopolymers for oriented or cast film; random copolymers are used for sealing layers.

For film, the additive package matters as much as the base resin, so compare slip, antiblock and antistatic content on the data sheet before switching.

Picking a film grade

Oriented film (BOPP): Homopolymer with MFR around 2–4 and a wide stretching window.
Cast film (CPP): MFR around 6–10; random copolymer for the sealing layer.
Blown film: Lower-MFR grades with good melt strength.

Processing notes

No drying needed. Cast film usually runs at 220–260 °C melt; oriented film needs tight control of the stretching temperature profile.
