Application

Plastic resins for Gears & Mechanical Parts

Resins for gears, bearings, clips and sliding parts that need low friction, wear resistance and tight tolerances.

Typical parts

  • Gears and cams
  • Bearings and bushings
  • Clips, buckles and fasteners
  • Conveyor and chain parts
  • Pump and valve parts
  • Zippers and window hardware

What the material has to do

  • 01Low friction and wear

Parts slide or mesh against each other or against metal.

  • 02Fatigue resistance

Snap fits and gears are loaded millions of times.

  • 03Dimensional stability

Gears and bearings need tight tolerances in humid conditions.

  • 04Chemical resistance

Parts may see fuels, oils and cleaning agents.

Grades used for gears & mechanical parts

Grades from our catalog that are commonly specified for this application. Open a grade for its data sheet, or send us your part requirements for a recommendation.

Processing notes

POM needs a warm mold (about 60–90 °C) for stable shrinkage and must not be overheated; nylons must be dried before molding and absorb moisture afterwards, which changes dimensions slightly.

General guidance only; follow the producer's TDS for each grade.

How we help

  • Grade matchSend the grade you use now or your part requirements; we return options with data sheets.
  • DocumentsTDS and the COA for the shipped lot; MSDS and compliance declarations where the producer issues them.

Gears & Mechanical Parts: common questions

POM or nylon for a gear?

POM for precision and low moisture uptake; nylon for higher temperature and toughness, especially glass-filled.
