LDPE grades

Low-density polyethylene is made by high-pressure polymerization and has long branches on its chains. That gives it softness, clarity and easy processing on blown-film and coating lines.

LDPE is often blended with LLDPE: LDPE for bubble stability and clarity, LLDPE for strength.

Choosing an LDPE grade

Blown and shrink film: MI around 0.3–2 g/10 min.
Extrusion coating: Higher MI, around 4–8, for coating paper, board and foil.
Injection molding: MI 7–50 for soft caps, lids and toys.

Processing notes

No drying needed. Blown film usually runs at about 160–200 °C melt; extrusion coating runs much hotter, around 280–320 °C, for adhesion.
