Application Overview — Plastic piping systems are selected according to pressure, temperature, conveyed medium, installation method, service life and the standards governing the finished system. Pipe resin is a specialised application: material family alone is not sufficient, and a general extrusion or molding grade must never be presented as a qualified pressure-pipe grade.
Typical Products — • Potable-water and municipal water pipe • Gas-distribution and industrial pipe • Drainage, waste and vent systems • Hot- and cold-water plumbing • Radiant-heating and district-energy distribution • Irrigation, mining, conduit and fittings
Key Performance Requirements — • Long-term hydrostatic strength and pressure rating • Slow-crack growth and rapid-crack propagation resistance • Impact performance at installation and service temperature • Creep, chemical and dimensional stability • Jointing, fusion and weldability • Temperature-pressure derating and compliance with applicable pipe standards
Material Selection Guide — • PE100 / pressure-pipe HDPE: water, gas, industrial, mining and buried pressure systems. Use only certified pipe compounds suitable for the required standard and design class. • HDPE non-pressure pipe grades: drainage, conduit and selected corrugated systems. Stiffness, slow-crack growth and profile design must match the pipe standard and installation load. • PP-R / PP-RCT: hot- and cold-water plumbing and elevated-temperature distribution. Pressure-temperature class, stabilisation and system certification are essential. • PE-RT: radiant heating, hot-water tubing and selected district-energy systems. Confirm material type, oxygen-barrier construction and system standard. • PEX: hot- and cold-water and radiant-heating tubing. Crosslinking method, degree of crosslinking, oxygen barrier and certification are system-specific. • PVC-U: drainage, waste, vent, conduit and selected pressure systems. Formulation, impact modification, stabilisation and standards vary by use. • CPVC: hot-water, fire-sprinkler and selected industrial piping. Use application-approved compounds and relevant pressure-temperature and fire-system standards.

Selection Notes — • Provide outside diameter, SDR or wall thickness, pressure class, temperature, medium, installation environment, jointing method and applicable standard. • For fittings, include the molding process and required pressure class. • Final approval belongs to the system manufacturer and must be based on certified compound data, long-term testing and compliance of the complete system.
