Typical parts

  • Water bottles
  • Carbonated soft drink bottles
  • Edible oil and sauce bottles
  • Hot-fill juice bottles
  • Food jars and containers

What the material has to do

  • 01Intrinsic viscosity

IV sets bottle strength: about 0.76–0.80 dL/g for water, higher for carbonated drinks.

  • 02Low acetaldehyde

Water bottles need low AA to keep a neutral taste.

  • 03Clarity and color

Consistent color (b-value) and clarity across lots.

  • 04Gas barrier

Carbonated drinks need CO₂ retention over shelf life.

PET Bottles & Preforms: common questions

Can water-bottle grade be used for carbonated drinks?

It is not recommended; carbonated drinks need a higher-IV grade for burst strength.

How is bottle-grade PET packed?

Usually in 1,100–1,250 kg jumbo bags; packing per grade is on its product page.
