Compared with metal gears, nylon gears have the advantages of light weight, low working noise, wear resistance without lubrication, more complex shapes can be formed, and low mass production costs; at the same time, the inherent design freedom of plastic molding ensures more efficient gears manufacture. Compared with amorphous plastics, it has better fatigue resistance, high strength and high wear resistance.
Nylon gears are also an important material to meet the requirements of low-quiet operation, which requires the emergence of materials with high precision, new tooth shapes and excellent lubricity or flexibility. Gears made of nylon generally do not require secondary processing, so compared with stamping parts and machined metal gears, the cost can be reduced by 50% to 90%. Nylon gears are lighter and more inert than metal gears, and can be used in environments where metal gears are prone to corrosion and degradation, such as the control of water meters and chemical equipment.
PA66 plastic gear material is specially reinforced, wear-resistant and lubricated, and has good mechanical and thermal properties. It is the preferred material for plastic gears.
