TPU mechanical properties: The mechanical properties of TPU elastomers mainly include: hardness, tensile strength, compression properties, tear strength, resilience and wear resistance, flexion resistance, etc., while the mechanical properties of TPU elastic plastics, in addition to these properties In addition, there are higher shear strength and impact energy.


Hardness is an indicator of a material's ability to resist deformation, nicks and scratches. TPU hardness is usually measured by Shore A (Shore A) and Shore D (shore D) durometers, Shore A is used for softer TPU, and Shore D is used for harder TPU. The hardness is mainly determined by the hard segment content in the TPU structure. The higher the hard segment content, the higher the hardness of TPU. After the hardness increases, other properties of TPU will also change, such as increased tensile modulus and tear strength, increased rigidity and compressive stress (load capacity), decreased elongation, increased density and dynamic heat generation, and increased environmental resistance. There is a certain relationship between the hardness of TPU and the temperature. Cooling from room temperature to sudden change temperature (-4~-12°C), there is no significant change in hardness; at the sudden change temperature, TPU hardness suddenly increases and becomes very hard and loses elasticity, which is due to the crystallization of the soft segment.
