Main features of PA6:
1. Excellent solder resistance
PA6 has a very high melting point (310°C), and its heat distortion temperature is also high (about 290°C), so it can show excellent reflow solderability. Excellent solder resistance makes PA6 especially suitable for electronic connectors for surface mount technology (SMT).
2. Excellent high temperature rigidity
PA6 can still maintain a relatively high modulus at high temperatures, for example, the modulus at 120°C is 55% of the modulus at 23°C. That is to say, PA6 can maintain stable and excellent rigidity in the temperature range.
3. Excellent chemical resistance
4. Low water absorption
For nylon resins, the water absorption of PA6 is quite low, only 1/4 to 1/3 of PA66. Therefore, the physical property change of PA6 due to water absorption is relatively small.
5. Excellent dimensional stability
The water absorption of PA6 is quite low, and the dimensional change caused by water absorption is quite small. The thermal expansion coefficient of PA6 is quite stable, and it is still maintained at a relatively low level in the high temperature range. Therefore, the dimensional stability to temperature changes is good. In addition, PA6 has very little warpage due to the molding process. That is to say, PA6 has excellent dimensional stability.
6. Excellent fluidity
PA6 has good melt fluidity and is easy to process by injection molding. In addition, PA6 also has excellent thin-wall formability, making it suitable for processing and forming of small parts.
7. Not easy to fluff when forming
PA6 also has an inherent characteristic of nylon, which is not easy to fluff during injection molding.
Flame retardant grade PA6 Uses: Electronic and electrical industry: main uses are air conditioners, color TVs, program-controlled switches, copiers, computer internal components, such as coil frames, connectors, transmission wheels, high and low voltage switches, relay shells, etc. are all made of flame retardant and reinforced PA6. Air conditioner compressor junction box, fan blades, etc. use flame retardant and toughened PA6 and flame retardant reinforced PA6.
