Polypropylene (PP for short) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic. It has high impact resistance, strong mechanical properties, and resistance to various organic solvents and acid and alkali corrosion. It is widely used in industry and is one of the common polymer materials.
Compared with other general-purpose thermoplastics, PP has the smallest density, excellent mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, compressive strength, surface hardness and elastic modulus, and outstanding stress crack resistance and wear resistance. PP has good heat resistance. PP hardly absorbs water and has excellent chemical stability. Except for oleum and strong oxidants, it is very stable to other media. It has excellent high-frequency electrical properties and is not affected by temperature. It is easy to form and process, and various products can be formed by various methods such as injection molding, extrusion and hollow molding. PP is non-toxic and tasteless, and PP has excellent bending resistance. It can be folded in half repeatedly without damage, which is difficult for any other plastic to do.
The commonly used flame retardant systems of flame retardant PP plastics include bromine flame retardant, halogen flame retardant, halogen free flame retardant, low halogen flame retardant and so on. With the improvement of people's quality of life and the increasing awareness of environmental protection, halogen-free flame-retardant materials with high efficiency, high safety, low toxicity and low smoke will become the development trend in the field of flame-retardant polypropylene.
